Windows Vista

If your SmartWi shall work with a Windows Vista PC, the boot-loader in the Master box must be upgraded.

A PC running Windows XP is required to download the upgrade file, before the Master box is ready for Vista.

After the upgrade, you will also see that the box connects to Windows very promptly!

If you have the new SmartWi system, where there is a metal stand for the Master box, the boot-loader is already upgraded.

Procedure:

• Download SmartWi Vista Upgrade.zip and unpack the files
• Remove the smartcard from the Master box 
• Connect the Master box to the PC
• Start 'SmartWiLdr.exe' and download ‘SmartWi USB Upgrade.swi’
• Start 'SmartWi Display'
• Insert a smartcard – and the upgrade starts

  • Flashing LED

    Upgrade done!

  • Steady LED

    Already upgraded!!

  • No LED

    Failure!

• You should then get following message on the display

• Remove the smartcard
• The Master box will now restart
• Windows will detect a new USB device
• Direct Windows to the new smartwi.inf file (smartwi.sys is identical)
• Download latest firmware to the Master box and upgrade the Client cards
